STEVEN E. MALLORCA
DIRECTOR, PRODUCER, CINEMATOGRAPHER, and EDITOR
Steve is an award-winning filmmaker and musician who graduated from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. As a director, editor, and director of photographer, he has produced a large body of work that spans across narrative, documentary, commercial, and music video film fronts. Steve co-directed, edited and shot A Peloton of One which won the 2020 Greenwich International Film Festival’s Audience Award, was released in February 2022 with Laemmle Theaters, and available on most streaming platforms in March 2022. Steve also served as the Director of Photography and Editor of the 2015 ESPN documentary, The Lost Trophy. His 2006 directorial feature debut, Slow Jam King, was hailed by the New York Times as “Do it yourself filmmaking at its purest… with spirited characters and high levels of comic energy” and won Asian Cinevision’s Emerging Director Award. Steve was a finalist for the 2024 CAAM Fellowship. Steve edited San Francisco Opera’s “Eun Sun Kim: A Journey Into Lohengrin,” a documentary about their musical director Eun Sun Kim, the first woman and first Asian to head the prestigious musical institution; the film will air on KQED in November 2024 and was cited by the San Francisco Chronicle for “the keen eye of editor Steven E. Mallorca, the film covers a lot of ground in just one hour….An absorbing and insightful documentary.” Steve is also the series editor for San Francisco Opera’s 2022 Webby Award-winning documentary series, In Song, as well as Cleveland Orchestra’s performance and documentary series, In Focus.
Steve is also an independent musician, and in December 2022, he released his 3rd album under the moniker Sulu and Excelsior, So Ends the Honeymoon, to critical acclaim. Steve directed the visual album for Sulu and Excelsior’s 2nd album, entitled “The Antimatter Suite” which was part music video, part verité documentary; the film premiered at the 2021 Urbanworld Film Festival. Steve spent 9 years as the co-producer for the PSIS 187 Film Festival, the homegrown film festival for his sons’ former elementary and middle school, which is housed in Washington Heights’ United Palace Theater.

CINDY L. TORRES
PRODUCER
Cindy L. Torres is a film and video producer with production and business management roots, having worked for Viacom, MTV, Little Airplane Productions and, currently, Cineflix Productions, where she has works on such shows as American Pickers and The Deed. She is the Co-Founder of Slow Jam King Productions, LLC with award-winning director Steve Mallorca. Their first film, Slow Jam King, won Asian Cinevision’s Emerging Director Award and enjoyed an extensive festival run and was released in 2006 through Unitel Pictures International. Cindy was a Producer on the feature, Three to Five and Glassy, which won the Silver Lei Award at the 2009 Honolulu International Film Festival, and was a Producer on the short film Pamanhikan, which screened at the 2015 Asian American International Film Festival, and the 2016 DisOrient Asian American Film Festival of Oregon.
Cindy has also co-produced music videos, including New York’s indie hip-hop band p.i.c's"Got Me Like", which won the 2005 Michelob Light Asian Cinevision Music Video Award. Cindy co-produced Sulu and Excelsior-The Antimatter Suite Visual Album, an official selection of the 2021 Urbanworld Film Festival.

JASON GREY
PRODUCER
A graduate of New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, Jason has worked on various projects that range from Hollywood studio and independent feature films to broadcast commercials to Japanese-pop music videos. With experience in almost every department Jason is a long time media professional who has worked closely with Steve Mallorca as an Assistant Director and Production Manager on his commercial and independent film work, including A Peloton of One, and Slow Jam King.

JEAN-BAPTISTE SANKARA
2nd CAMERA & CO-PRODUCER
Jean-Baptiste Sankara (JB) harnesses the power of short-form documentaries to tell stories that matter. Working as behind the camera as a director of photography, camera operator and assistant camera, as well as an editor and producer. He was the 2nd camera operator on the feature documentaries A Peloton of One and The Lost Trophy, and was co-director of photography on Sulu and Excelsior’s visual album, The Antimatter Suite. JB collaborates with non-profit organizations and other filmmakers to amplify their voices and create meaningful change, channeling his passion for social justice and human rights. He works with the Georgie Badiel Foundation, and their major annual fundraiser, The Water Ball, creating and coordinating all the media for the event. He also uses his skills and creativity to bring brands to life through commercial work, crafting visually stunning and emotionally resonant films that showcase the best of what brands have to offer.
